Side by side
Structural differences, not a feature scorecard. BrightHR is quote-based, so anything about its price or terms is what third-party reviews report, not a list price.

Should you leave BrightHR?
BrightHR has two things OpSemble doesn’t: an employment law advice line, and a decade of track record. If the advice line is the reason you pay for it, that’s a real benefit and you should price it against a standalone HR adviser before switching. If you’re paying for the software and never ring the line, the rest of this page is for you.
The reasons people search for a BrightHR alternative are consistent: they can’t find the price without a sales call, they discovered the contract length after signing, or they need something BrightHR doesn’t do, usually payroll, recruitment or a proper safety system rather than an add-on.
OpSemble was built for the size of business BrightHR sells to, with the opposite commercial model. Prices are public. Billing is monthly. There’s no implementation fee, and the first user is free until your team actually logs in. You switch on HR, and if you need it Health & Safety, and nothing else appears on the bill.
The safety side is where the gap is widest. BrightSafe covers risk assessments, incidents and e-learning. OpSemble Health & Safety is a management system: incidents with RIDDOR deadlines, RAMS, COSHH, permits, contractors and visitors, toolbox talks and an ISO 45001 register, sharing the same people as HR.
For a twenty-person business using HR and Health & Safety, that’s £29 plus £300 a month, before VAT, on a bill you can read and a term you can leave. See the full comparison for how that stacks up against a whole stack of tools, or build your plan for your own numbers.
