Accident book software and RIDDOR for small UK businesses

Employers with ten or more people must keep an accident record, and every employer must report certain incidents to the HSE under RIDDOR 2013: deaths, specified injuries, over-seven-day incapacitation, occupational diseases and dangerous occurrences, each with its own deadline. No. It calculates and tracks the statutory deadline, flags reportable incidents on a pending list, and records the date you submitted. You make the report itself on the HSE’s online RIDDOR service.

Does a digital record count as an accident book?

The legal duty is to keep a record of accidents with the required details and retain it for at least three years, while protecting the personal data in it. A digital register that does this is a valid way to meet it. If in doubt, check with your health and safety adviser.

Which RIDDOR deadlines does it track?

Ten days from the incident for deaths, specified injuries and dangerous occurrences; fifteen days for injuries causing over seven days’ incapacitation. Occupational diseases have no fixed day count, so they are flagged without a deadline.
